What to Expect at a Misophonia Appointment
When diagnosing for misophonia, it’s important to rule out any other hearing disorders such as hearing loss, tinnitus and hyperacusis. That’s why we conduct a series of tests to check whether you have these conditions too.
Allow about 2 hours for your appointment with us. If you have had your hearing evaluated by an audiologist, we ask that you bring a copy of those results to your appointment and any other pertinent medical history information pertaining to your misophonia. Otherwise, we will go ahead with our full hearing examination.
The Tinnitus and Hyperacusis Clinic is private pay, therefore, we cannot accept health insurance. All payments are due at the time of service. Interest-free options are available if needed.
If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, we require a notice of at least two (2) business days. Should you fail to do so, we may charge a Cancel/No-Show fee of $150. Emergency situations are taken into consideration, which includes COVID-19 restrictions and precautions.
Bring a Friend!
We invite our patients to bring someone with them to the initial assessment. Studies have shown that patients often only recall about 50% of the information they receive during a visit. While we do everything possible to ensure you leave with a firm grasp of the most important information, we understand it’s helpful to have another person listening too.
